Bio Boom 2008
CCB organized a biotech fest Bioboom 2008. Lectures were delivered by eminent scientists Dr. U.C Banerjee, NIPER and Dr. Jagdeep Kaur, Prof. and HOD, Deptt of Biotech, Punjab University. Dr. Banerjee talked on the Scope of Fermentation Technology in the Industry which was highly motivational. Dr. Jagdeep introduced the Present and Future Prospects in the field of Biotechnology. Students participated in various competitions like poster making, quiz and collage making.
Education cum Excursion trip to Nainital and Palampur
Apart from imparting quality to the education to the students, CCB organizes educational cum excursion trip every year. A trip was organized to Nainital in the first week of October 2007. The students were accompanied by their teachers. Wherein the students explored biodiversity in the hilly area of Nainital and also visited various lakes.
Placement Drive
A joint campus placement drive for the students of B.Sc biotech was conducted on 5th May 2008 by Eli Lily, a multinational pharmaceutical company. More than 170 students participated in it and the selected students were offered a package of Rs.2.64 lacs per annum.
Seminar on IPR
A Seminar was conducted on 29 august 2008 on topic ‘IPR – New career opportunities in life sciences and pharma sector ‘. Eminent scientist Dr. Parikshit Bansal from NIPER enlightened the students about the career prospects in IPR field.
Seminar by WLC College (India)
A group of delegates from WLC College (India) headed by Mr. Anil Bansal organized a seminar for the students of Chandigarh College of Pharmacy campus on 2nd April, 2008. They gave presentation about how WLC courses are designed to help students to create a productive and rewarding future for them. The students were introduced to various courses offered by WLC. The courses are not only recognized internationally but are finely structured to equip students with professional skills required for a successful career.

“The courses related to hospital pharmacy and those students who have the requisite commitment, ability and motivation, can expect an exhilarating learning experience, intellectual satisfaction and high rewards in the pharmaceutical” added Mr. Bansal in his statement.
Educational trip to Goa

The college also organized an industrial trip to Goa from 4-12 March as per the PTU syllabus guidelines for 6th semester pharmacy students; under the kind guidance of Mr. Upendra K. Jain, Principal and Mr. Vikas Bansal, TPO. The college students, accompanied by their respective teachers’ Mr. Anant Singh and Ms. Hardeep Kaur, visited many multinational renowned pharmaceutical companies including Wyeth, FDC etc. This trip gave students experience about the working environment of the industry and discussed elaborately various aspects relevant to their field with the authorities of concerning departments. During the trip students also enjoyed visit to historical places and famous beaches of Goa.
Glenmark pharmaceuticals delegate’s presentation
On 16th April a group of delegates from Glenmark Pharmaceutical Ltd., Baddi were invited to the college campus. Mr. S.N.Gupta, Senior production manager at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Baddi delivered a lecture on “Pharma Industry: Career options” and “Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)” and also encouraged the students about the proliferating status of pharmaceutical industry around the world. Mr. Thakur Singh, H.R manager at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Baddi, discussed about Glenmark’s
Business, Research and development, vision for Focused business, Values, HRD, Performance Appraisal, and CSR activities.
” The infrastructure and the faculty of the college are at par with the required norms and are capable of producing some worthy students who can be a part of Glenmark Industry” added Mr. Gupta in his statement. They assured Mr. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman and Mr. Upendra K. Jain, Principal that they are looking forward for a tie-up with college for the training and placement programs in the near future.
