B.Pharm (Lateral Entry)
All candidates who have passed the diploma in Pharmacy from any educational institution duly approved by the PCI/AICTE are eligible for admission in lateral entry scheme. A candidate needs to have a good moral character, they must fulfill the conditions mentioned in the Punjab Govt Notification No.35/44/95-IT (21/978 dated 21.3.2003) incorporated in the CET -2010 Information Brochure of PTU and must be a citizen of India. 10% seats of total intake in 1st year are filled in the second year out of which 33.3% seats are reserved as management quota which is to be filled directly by the college. Admissions to all seats are made on the merit in the qualifying exam.
This option of B.Pharm Lateral Entry helps students avail the option of getting direct admission in the second year of this four-year-long degree. The only requirement that has to be met for doing so, is to have a diploma in Pharmacy from any educational institute duly approved by the PCI/AICTE.
Career options
There has been a huge increase in the global pharmaceutical industry in recent years causing endless opportunities for pharmacy students. B. Pharmacy is the qualifying exam for many government exams for reputed posts like drug inspectors and food inspectors. In the private sector too, B. Pharm graduates have a scope as Pharmacists, Drug regulatory in charge, Quality Control inspectors, Pharmaceutical marketing heads, and production managers. Students with great entrepreneurial skills also have infinite prospects with increasing advantages in various business models available.
Eligibility
All those candidates who have passed the diploma in Pharmacy from an Institution approved by PCI u/s 12 Pharmacy Act, 1948 with subject to the following conditions are eligible:
Such Diploma holders admitted directly to B. Pharmacy 2nd Year shall pass those subjects of B. Pharmacy 1st year which are not covered under the diploma.
