World Pharmacist Day On theme “Pharmacists strengthening health systems-Angadaan Mahadan”

With the aim of creating awareness on Pharmacy and role played by Pharmacists among the students, World Pharmacist Day was celebrated by Pharmacy Department of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran in collaboration with IIC and DATRI. Firstly, Campus director, Dr. P. N Hrisheekesha addressed the guests, faculty members and students present and gave an interesting insight on theme of world Pharmacist day, “Pharmacists strengthening health systems-Angadaan Mahadan”. On this occasion various activities like slogan writing and debate competition was organized in which B.pharmacy and M.pharmacy students participated enthusiastically. A student rally mentioning this year’s theme was also organised in order to make everyone aware of the role a pharmacist plays in the society. This was followed by an address by Ms. Anuradha Tandon, Senior Associate- Donor Recruitment, DATRI Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry. She spoke about importance of DATRI Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry in stem cell transplantation. She shared her valuable experience with students that how journey of Datry began back in 2009 to find matched donors for patients like Thalassemia or blood disorders. She made the students aware that any healthy individual between the age of 18 years to 50 years can register as a blood stem cell donor with DATRI and potentially become a lifesaver. It was very informative session. After that, Director Principal Dr. Saurabh Sharma concluded the event by shedding some light on the history of Pharmacy and role of Pharmacists in making the World a better place for everyone. Moreover he encouraged students to recognize the Pharmacy profession and impelement their knowledge in routine life by reciting various examples. At the end of the day, the name of the top two winners from slongan writing (Divyanshu, B.pharmacy first semester and Khushboo, M.Pharmacy first semester) as well as declamation contest (Harshpreet,B.pharmacy 7th semester and Rhimjhim B.pharmacy 3rd semester) were announced and bestowed with trophies.
