Center of Excellence (CoE)
Center of Excellence (CoE) at Chandigarh College of Pharmacy aims to encompass a forward-looking perspective on advancing scientific knowledge, fostering innovation, and making transformative impacts in various domains health and medicine.
The institute has the following CoEs
CoE for Molecular Research
Center of Excellence (CoE) for molecular research is a specialized entity within Chandigarh College of Pharmacy dedicated to advancing research, innovation, and education in the field of molecular biology. It serves as a hub of knowledge, best practices, and innovation, aiming to drive excellence and efficiency across the department. It plays a pivotal role in advancing scientific knowledge, fostering technological advancements, and addressing critical challenges in biology and biomedicine. Its distinctiveness stems from the use of cutting-edge technologies to enhance molecular research. The CoE also unites experts from various disciplines, including molecular biology, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, and pharmacology, to foster innovation. Additionally, it focuses on offering specialized programs, workshops, and training to nurture the next generation of researchers and scientists. The CoE has successfully secured significant grants from government agencies such as ICMR and DBT.
CoE for Molecular Pharmacology
The Centre of Excellence of Molecular Pharmacology was established at Chandigarh College of Pharmacy, Landran under the AICTE MODROBS scheme to promote research, innovation, sponsored Projects, and industrial collaboration. CoE enables advancements in drug discoveries and development by focusing on understanding the intricate mechanisms of drug action at the cellular and molecular level as well as by developing novel therapeutics. Equipped with advanced facilities like high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), an animal house, a cell culture lab, tissue preparation facilities, ELISA readers, PCR machines, and centrifuges, this platform empowers researchers to create revolutionary therapies for improved patient outcomes and address unmet medical needs. Our laboratory is actively engaged in groundbreaking research on a range of critical health areas, including Alzheimer's disease, amnesia, dementia, depression, epilepsy, obesity, NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease), diabetic nephropathy, arthritis, wound healing, Parkinson’s disease, and ulcerative urolithiasis. At our lab, we foster a mission-driven approach, fostering a collaborative research environment with cross-disciplinary projects, all aimed at creating real-world impact.
CoE for Modern Pharmaceutics
Established under the AICTE MODROB scheme, Centre of Excellence (COE) for Modern Pharmaceutics offers a robust research ecosystem promoting innovation in pharmacy. Focused on advance drug delivery and product development through design of experiment (DoE) approach, centre is equipped with major equipments like Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Ultra Turrax Homogenizer, Ultrasonic Homogenizer, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Stability Chamber, Dissolution Apparatus and Cooling Centrifuge. Our facility empowers students and faculty researchers to take up innovative research in thrust areas such as nanotechnology, oral, ocular and pulmonary drug delivery, cancer therapy, brain-targeted, plant-based pharmaceutical formulations, and promotion of green technology that could improve therapeutic interventions. Through specialized degree programs, research students and Ph.D. research scholars/faculty pursuing their Ph.D. gain hands-on experience with advanced instrumentation techniques present in laboratory.
CoE for Regulatory Affairs
The Centre of Excellence for Regulatory Affairs is aimed to produce pharmaceutical professionals with advanced regulatory skills to meet Indian pharmaceutical industry requirements. This centre of excellence focuses to train the pharmaceutical professionals with global regulatory guidelines and standards related to drug and medical devices as well as in-vitro diagnostics. With an aim, to give a real industrial environment to the pharmaceutical professionals Chandigarh College of Pharmacy collaborated with the Point of Care Biosystem, New Delhi. This collaboration aims to produce skilled professionals who can navigate the complex regulatory landscape and contribute to benefiting the healthcare sector both locally and globally.
Central Instrumentation Laboratory (CIL)
The Centre of Excellence (COE) in Central Instrumentation Laboratory (CIL), established under the PCI scheme, has significantly enhanced the infrastructure available to students, faculty, and Ph.D. research scholars. Our cutting-edge equipment has enabled high-quality research in areas such as Novel drug synthesis, Novel drug delivery systems, Cancer therapeutics, and targeted drug formulations. To date, ten Ph.D. faculty members have successfully completed their thesis, while fourteen others are currently pursuing their research, addressing the growing needs of the pharmacy department.
Additionally, the COE has played a crucial role in guiding M. Pharm students through their research projects, with over 300 thesis projects completed and many more in progress. These projects primarily emphasize practical applications in drug designing and synthesis, formulation development, employing Design of Experiments (DoE) and Quality by Design (QbD) approaches to provide students with hands-on experience in modern drug development methodologies. The innovative research conducted at the COE-CIL has also led to the publications or filing of patents, underscoring the lab's commitment to advancing pharmaceutical science.
