Faculty Development Program on “Research Based Teaching – Learning Pedagogy in Pharmaceutical Sciences”

The Pharmacy Department of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran organized a 5 days faculty development program on the topic ““Research Based Teaching – Learning Pedagogy in Pharmaceutical Sciences” from 24th June 2024 – 28th June 2024. Firstly, Director Principal Dr. Saurabh Sharma addressed the guests, faculty members and students present and gave an interesting insight on Research based methodologies. The guest of honor for the inauguration ceremony was Dr. Amit Bhatia, Professor and Head of Department, MRSPTU, Bathinda. Dr. Amit Bhatia addressed the faculty members and gave an engaging perspective on the topic “Translational research”. He encoded various examples to elaborate on topic. This was followed by a session by Dr. Raj Kumar, Professor &Head Central University of Punjab, Bathinda on “PROTAC targeted protein degraders.” At the end of day, Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Supriya Agnihotri, Head of Department, CCP.

During the second day of the event, Dr. Neeraj Khatri, Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-IMTECH in Chandigarh, delivered a thorough presentation on “Biosafety: Understanding The Basic Principles, Risk Assessment & Mitigation”. He emphasized the significance of adhering to biosafety protocols.

On the third day, Mr. Hitesh Kumar Gulati, (Human Capital Transformation & Change Management Consultant, Chandigarh) delivered the lecture on “Critical Importance of Stress Management Techniques”. He explored various strategies and TABLA approach, from mindfulness practices to effective organization techniques, all aimed to achieve mindfulness, time management to mitigate stress effectively. Afterwards, Dr. Anil Kumar, Professor Panjab University, Chandigarh delivered the lecture on “Role of artificial intelligence in Pharmacy: Emerging trends and challenges”. Post lunch there was a lecture by Ms. Kamalinder Kaur from CSE-CEC department delivered talk on “NAAC: Framing of OBE levels (COs, POs, PSOs, PEOs)” and highlighted its significant role in ensuring quality and continuous improvement for HEIs.

On the 4th day Dr. P.K. Tulsi, Ex-Professor, NITTTR, Chandigarh delivered a detailed and educational lecture on the various aspects of Active Learning Strategies. Dr. Tulsi mam demonstrated various instructional methods for academics. After lunch Ms. Gurleen discussed techniques of stress management for teachers to assess student psychology in class room.

On the 5th day, last day Dr. Dipika Bansal, Assistant Professor, NIPER, Mohali on the topic “Indirect Evidence Synthesis Using Network Meta-Analysis Approach”. It was followed by address by Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma Professor, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He gave a very informative and knowledgeable lecture on “Research Based teaching and learning pedagogy in Pharmaceutical Sciences”. Post lunch there was a last session by Dr. Ranju Bansal, Professor, Panjab University, Chandigarh on “Lead based Drug discovery: A case study on steroids as anticancer agents”.

At the end, Director-Principal, Dr Saurabh Sharma concluded that the insights shared by our esteemed speakers have broadened our perspectives and equipped us with valuable tools to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

The event was attended by approximately 40 faculties from Pharmacy. At the end of Faculty Development programme the guests handed over certificates to all the participants.

It was a great learning experience for all the faculty members and the event ended successfully.
