5 days International Faculty Development Program on Transformative Technologies In Pharmaceutical Sciences: A Multidisciplinary Perspective

Chandigarh College of Pharmacy, Landran successfully organised a five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “Transformative Technologies in Pharmaceutical Sciences: A Multidisciplinary Perspective” from 22nd June 2026 to 26th June 2026. The program aimed to provide faculty members with valuable insights into emerging technologies, innovative research methodologies, and modern teaching practices in pharmaceutical sciences.The inaugural session began with a warm welcome address by the Director Principal, Dr. Rupinder Kaur Sodhi. She extended greetings to the distinguished speakers and faculty participants while emphasizing the growing importance of innovative pedagogical approaches and technological advancements in pharmaceutical education and research. The keynote address on the first day was delivered by Dr. Parveen Bansal, Dean (R&D), I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala, on the topic “Need to Integrate Ancient Traditional Wisdom with Modern Scientific Tools for Developing Transformative Technologies in Pharmaceutical Sciences.” He highlighted the importance of blending traditional medicinal systems with modern scientific innovations to develop sustainable healthcare solutions and promote holistic pharmaceutical practices.

The second expert session of the day was conducted by Mr. Ravinder Gupta, Solution Account Manager-SA/ANZ Life Science-A&G, Elsevier, Gurugram, on “Advancing Pharmaceutical Research through AI and Data-Driven Approaches: A Multidisciplinary Perspective.” He discussed the transformative role of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital technologies in accelerating drug discovery, pharmaceutical research, scientific publication processes, and evidence-based healthcare decision-making.

On the second day, Dr. Neeraj Kumar from Panjab University, Chandigarh delivered an informative session on “Publishing Research in High Impact Journals: From Submission to Acceptance.” He guided participants through various stages of manuscript preparation, journal selection, peer review, and publication ethics. This was followed by an engaging lecture by Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dean Academics, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, on “Design Thinking with AI in Developing Innovations in Our Teaching Strategies.” His session focused on integrating artificial intelligence with creative teaching methodologies to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and outcome-based learning in higher education.

The third day featured a lecture by Dr. Sayog Amruntkar, Senior Scientific Manager, Analytical R&D, Biocon Limited, Bengaluru, on “Analytical Considerations for Characterization of Generic Peptide Products: A Regulatory Insight.” He emphasized the critical analytical and regulatory aspects involved in the development and characterization of generic peptide formulations, along with the importance of maintaining quality, safety, and efficacy standards in pharmaceutical products.

Subsequently, Dr. Shivkanya Fuloria, Senior Associate Professor, AIMST University, Malaysia, delivered an insightful session on “AI Tools for Literature Review and Referencing.” She elaborated on the effective use of artificial intelligence tools for systematic literature searches, reference management, plagiarism reduction, and improving the efficiency and accuracy of academic writing and research documentation.

On the fourth day, Dr. Shamsher Singh, Dean R&D and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, ISF College of Pharmacy, Moga, conducted a highly informative session on “Basic Research Tools: Zebrafish Model Validation as a Novel Approach.” The lecture highlighted the significance of zebrafish models in neuroscience and biomedical research for understanding neurodegenerative disorders and evaluating potential therapeutic agents.

The final day of the FDP featured a lecture by Dr. Amteshwar Singh Jaggi on “Modern Pharmacy Practice: Pathways to Clinical Excellence.” He discussed the evolving role of pharmacists in patient-centered healthcare, clinical decision-making, and pharmaceutical care practices. This was followed by another enlightening session on “Threads of AI Reshaping Herbal Drug Research” by Professor Dr. Suresh Kumar from Panjab University, Patiala. His lecture provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing herbal drug discovery, phytochemical analysis, data interpretation, and the development of evidence-based herbal formulations using AI tools.

The valedictory session was concluded by Prof. Dr. Supriya Agnihotri, Head of Department, who appreciated the valuable contributions of all the resource persons and emphasized the significance of such academic programs in strengthening faculty knowledge and professional competencies. More than 40 faculty members from the Pharmacy department actively participated in the FDP. Certificates were distributed to all participants at the end of the program. The event proved to be an enriching learning experience and concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from all attendees.
