World Pharmacist Day-2026
With the aim of creating awareness among students about the importance of Pharmacy and the vital role of Pharmacists in healthcare, World Pharmacist Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Chandigarh College of Pharmacy, CGC Landran, on 25 September 2026.The event commenced with an address by Director-Principal, Dr. Rupinder Kaur Sodhi, who welcomed the faculty members and students and provided an insightful overview of the theme “Swastha Bharat: Combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)”.She emphasised the importance of responsible antibiotic use and highlighted the significant role of pharmacists in promoting rational drug use and safeguarding public health. The celebration was further enriched by an expert guest lecture delivered by Dr. Ajay Prakash, Additional Professor, PGIMER, Chandigarh, on the safe use of antibiotics. The lecture provided valuable insights into appropriate antibiotic use, patient care, public health and antimicrobial resistance.
As part of National Pharmacy Week 2026, a series of educational activities, including Poster Presentation, Scitoons, Pharma Quiz, Reel Making Competition, and Leaflet Making Competition, were organised. Students participated enthusiastically and showcased their creativity, scientific knowledge, communication skills, and understanding of antimicrobial resistance and responsible medicine use. An Awareness Rally was also organised at Chunni Bhagatan Patto, Bassi Pathana, where students carried informative placards and raised slogans to spread awareness about antimicrobial resistance, responsible antibiotic use, and antimicrobial stewardship. This was followed by an engaging Nukkad Natak, through which students highlighted the risks associated with self-medication, misuse of antibiotics, and incomplete treatment courses.
The Event provided an interactive platform for students to learn, engage, and appreciate the diverse responsibilities of pharmacists while reinforcing the importance of antimicrobial stewardship, rational medicine use, patient safety, and public health awareness.
