Symposium on “Sustainability, Employability and Entrepreneurship Skills for Pharmacy Practice”

The Symposium held on March 12th, 2024, at Chandigarh College of Pharmacy, Landran, and Mohali, in collaboration with IIC and ACIC RISE ASSOCIATION, aimed to foster awareness and impart knowledge on Entrepreneurship Skills among students. Director Principal, Prof. Saurabh Sharma, addressed esteemed guests, faculty, and students, delivering a brief introduction to the symposium's theme, "Sustainability, Employability, and Entrepreneurship Skills for Pharmacy." He further inspired students by illustrating various startup ventures through practical examples. The day's proceedings commenced with an expert talk by Dr. Pramil Tiwari, Professor & Head, NIPER, Mohali. He shared invaluable personal experiences with students, enlightening them about employability within the Pharmaceutical profession. Emphasizing the Pharmacist's pivotal role in healthcare, he described essential attributes such as determination, confidence, adaptability, persistence, and risk-taking etc. for enhancing employability in this field. Subsequently, Dr. Ray R S, Scientific Assistant, IPC, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, delivered an enlightening presentation on the significance of Pharmacovigilance programs in India in ensuring patient safety. He also elucidated on the skill development programs offered by IPC, enlightening students on avenues to pursue careers in the Pharmacovigilance sector. Following this, participants from various esteemed institutions presented e-posters, showcasing their research contributions. Further, Dr. Ajay Prakash, from PGIMER Chandigarh, delivered an informative presentation on the multifaceted career prospects within the field of Pharmacy. He also emphasized the importance of acquiring additional qualifications and integrating them effectively into the pharmaceutical field for advancing future prospects. At the end of the event, certificates and mementos were awarded to the winners of the e-poster presentation. Additionally, distinguished guests were graciously presented with trophies as tokens of gratitude by Prof. (Dr.) Saurabh Sharma, Director Principal, CCP, Prof. (Dr.) Supriya Agnihotri, HOD, CCP and Dr. Ruchi Singla, Dean RISE department, CGC. The proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by HOD, CCP.
